October 2004 Flash Floods

The October 2004 Flash Floods beginning October 8, 2004 in Assam were due to very heavy rainfall as a result of a depression in the Bay of Bengal. It caused land slides in and around Guwahati hills and chest deep flooding in the city itself due to water logging accompanied by potable water scarcity and power loss. In other regions, people and animals have died in hundreds.
