Majuli

From WikiAssam

Majuli is a the largest island on the Brahmaputra river. Isolated, it has been the home of many neo-Vaishnavite monasteries.

Though Majuli (1,256 sq km, 1950; <550 sq km now) is often mentioned as the largest river island, the distinction actually goes to Bananal island (20,000 sq km) on the river AraguaÃ?Æ?Ã?a in Brazil.
