Jayanta Hazarika

Jayanta Hazarika (1943-1977) was a very well-known Assamese singer and composer. He gained acclaim as a creative singer in Assam and abroad.

Jayanta Hazarika came into limelight with the release of his albums "Aagoli Botaahe" and "Krishna Suraa" in 1962 by His Master's Voice, the premier music label. In a short period of time, he had millions of fans all over Assam and he is popular till this day (2005).

Jayanta Hazarika was an expert player of several musical instruments in addition to being a singer and a composer. He also acted in Assamese films and had a base of fans as an actor. He was the music director for two movies, "Bonoriyaa Ful" and "Bristi".
