Bhuban Barua (known with the pseudonym Kanchan Barua, 1914-1989) was a well-known Assamese novelist.

Biography
Bhuban Barua was born in Shillong in 1914. Bhuban Barua never married. He died on May 10, 1989.

He went to college in Jorhat.

Work
Bhuban Barua began working as an engineer in the Digboi Oil Refinery. He was also a Chairman of the Toklai Tea Research Center later in life.

Bhuban Barua wrote books using the pen-name Kanchan Barua. His published books include "Oximot Jaar Heraal Ximaa", "Puwoti Toraa", "Grohonaanto", "Mounpuri", "Oxaanto Prohor", "Xur Deulor Pujaari", "Mrito Bihongo", "Mrigo Trishnaa", "Xubrono Boloy" "Urmilaar Sokuloo" and "Joyaamohol".
