Banikanta Kakati

Banikanta Kakati (1894-1952) was a linguist whose seminal works on the Assamese language are definite contributions to the language. He was a student of Suniti Kumar Chatterjee.
His demonstrated the Assamese elements in the charyapada, the Buddhist songs from the 9th century, that traced the antiquity of the language.

Biography
Borm in November, 1894, in the Village of Baatikurihaa near Borpeta, his parents were Lalitram and Laahoowaalaa Kakati.
