Amalprabha Das

Amalprobha Das (1911-1994) was the first Assamese woman to receive a post-graduate degree in Science.

Amalprobha Das was born in November, 1911. Her parents were Harekrishna Das and Hemaprobha Das. Amalprobha and her mother met Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi in 1939 and became ardent followers. She was active in the Independence Movement (India) and focussed her energy on establishing "buniyaadi" or primary schools that taught self-sufficiency.

Amalprobha Das died on December 30, 1994.
