Ahom Administration

The Ahom Administration was based on the administrative features of the Shan kingdom at its inception though it evolved considerably over the six hundred years of rule.
The revenue collected was in the form of service, not tax, based on the Paik System.
Many surnames in Assam have their origin in the titles of the Ahom Administration.
