Abdul Majid

Abdul Majid (1867-1924) was the first Assamese to be appointed as a Justice in the Calcutta High Court.

While in Calcutta as a student, a lawyer and a justice, Abdul Majid played a leading role in two organizations, viz., "Oxomiyaa Bhaaxaar Unnoti Xaadhini Xobhaa" (Society for the Upliftment of the Assamese Language) and "Oxomiyaa Saatoror Unnoti Xaadhini Xobhaa" (Society for the Progress of the Assamese Student).

Abdul Majid wrote a book called "Nimno Primary Paath" (A Reader for the Lower Primary Student).
