August 2004
- August 15 - 13, including 8 school children, killed in a bomb blast in Dhemaji during an official Independence Day celebration.

October 2004
- October 2 - Two powerful bombs explode in Hong Kong Market and the railway station at Dimapur, Nagaland and different parts of Assam. Violence in Assam continues for 3 days. The cummulative toll stands at more than 60 and includes civilians, security personnel and insurgents.
- October 5 - Bandh called by NESO affects entire northeast India.
